Last Three Books You Read?

Spoilers or Spoiler Free?

I love spoilers for anything on TV… I will always look them up in advance of the episode or movie. But in books, I hate them. I want to read for myself; however, I will sometimes peruse the last few pages of a book before starting it.

In my book reviews, I don’t include spoilers as a general guideline; however, if something borders on a spoiler, I will include an alert before someone sees the info.

How Long Have You Been Book Blogging?

I began using Goodreads in 2011/12, but didn’t include reviews until 2015. I created this website in October 2016, so about 8 months now. It started out as just book reviews, but it’s expanded to:

  • Book Reviews with genre, author and book series information
  • Film / TV Show / Movie Reviews
  • Vacation and Trip Reviews
  • 365 Daily Challenge — check it out, you know you want to!
  • Personal Blog

Last Book You Read In One Sitting?

Your Favorite Genre

Preferred book size? (novella, tome, etc)

I tend to love reading a book series, so the longer the better. But since I’m trying to read more books and varied genres, I am usually comfortable between 300 and 400 pages.

Amount of books on your TBR?

Goodreads tells me I have 1,113 books on my “to read” list, but I have 21 sitting on my physical bookshelf or downloaded into my Kindle eReader.

A book you have DNF’d?

I couldn’t completely finish it… read my review to see why!

Recent awards or milestones?

I hadn’t even realized there were blogger awards until last week, so I’ve got none!

I just had my best day since the site was created. I had 109 likes and 213 views in a single day. While that’s fairly small compared to everyone else, I only have ~200 followers at this point, so it’s steadily improving.

Best interaction with an author you enjoy?

Although I am a writer, I haven’t spent much time with other authors. But I tend to like when I connect with them on Facebook and get a few likes or messages from them directly.

Average number of books you read per month?

I average about 2 to 3 books per week, so around 10 per month.

Top three publishers?

I haven’t been paying attention to the specific publisher as much as I should. I have been focusing more on genre and author. But you’ve just given me a great idea. Thanks!

Social media sites your blog uses?

For book reviews, I first publish on Goodreads, then send it to this blog. From there, I share it on Twitter, Tumblr, Google+ and Pinterest.

For general blogging items, same as above but start with the post here on WordPress (WP).

Average amount of time you spend on networking?

It ranges pretty wide. Right now, for a variety of reasons, I probably spend 2 to 3 hours per day blogging and networking.

Most comfortable blogging position?

Sitting on the couch with my legs crossed or stretched out on an ottoman. Laptop on a pillow on my lap. Water or coffee on the table next to me. And Ryder (dog) cuddled up by my side.

Music or quiet when writing reviews?

Generally quiet. Sometimes I’ll put on a radio station for light background music.

Can you sum up your blogging style in 5 words?

Witty. Funny. Diverse. Organized. Introspective.

A blog you looked up to starting out?

To be honest, I didn’t look at other people’s blogs. I just started designing to learn how to use the WordPress tool. And as I began seeing content on other people’s sites, I added more to mine. I have a lot of online friends with cool blogs, but I try to be creative and not compare to others too much. I’d never get anything done if I tried to live up to some of the folks I follow. They’re too good!

The best book you have reviewed so far?

Hmmm…  there are too many. But my favorite book right now is below and the review is here:

Best piece of blogging advice?

Have an outline. Winging it is good once you have a base established. Decide what layout and format works best for you. Organize your content. Determine your comfort level on how often you blog and network. Essentially… be somewhat consistent and reliable so people want to keep checking it out.

It’s time for tagging….

Open to everyone… let’s have some fun.

About Me

I’m Jay and I live in NYC. By profession, I work in technology. By passion, I work in writing. Each week, I will post a summary of a trip I’ve taken somewhere in the world. I’ll cover the transportation, hotel, restaurants, activities, who, what, when, where and why… and let you decide for yourself if it’s a trip worth taking.

Once you hit my site “ThisIsMyTruthNow” at https://thisismytruthnow.com, you can join the fun and see my blog and various site content. You’ll find book reviews, published and in-progress fiction, TV/Film reviews, favorite vacation spots and my own version of the “365 Daily Challenge.” Since March 13, 2017, I’ve posted a characteristic either I currently embody or one I’d like to embody in the future. 365 days of reflection to discover who I am and what I want out of life… see how you compare!

Feel free to like, rate, comment or take the poll for each post. Tell me what you think. Note: All content is my original creation and copyrighted to me, but the graphics and images were linked from other sites and belong to them. Many thanks to their original creators.

  1. I jut want to say my favorite publisher right now is CreateSpace which is for indie authors because I’ve been on a super science fiction kick lately and my favorites as well as a few new ones are from them. You have a ginormous TBR pile! I thought I had a lot but you have me beat, haha

    • Ha! It’s all Goodreads’ fault. I get recommendations and love the summary. I find a series I like and add them all. I add all the Giveaways I try to win to my TBR in case they come up again. I need to organize it better! I’ve heard of that publisher… need to look more up.

      • Yes! I call it the goodreads spiral! The covers and the easily read roll over descriptions make it hard not to add them all!
