Review: The Private Life of the Cat Who…

The Private Life of the Cat Who...Book Review

3 out of 5 stars to The Private Life of the Cat Who…, a short novella written in 2006 by Lilian Jackson Braun. So… this is not one of the normal cozy mystery books in the “Cat Who” series, rather a journal written by the main character, Jim Qwilleran, known as Qwill, about the history of his relationship and the antics of his two Siamese cats, Koko and YumYum. For fans of the series, it’s a cute refresher that you can choose to read or ignore. If you only care about the mysteries, then skip this one. If you love the characters, it’s a quick 2 hour read. For new folks, if you want to see a little bit about the characters or the style, it’s a good intro; however, it’s not a cozy mystery where you solve a crime. Keep those recommendations in mind and you’ll know what to do! Enjoy.

  1. Thank you for following my blog. I’ll be following yours from now on though I probably won’t comment much, if at all.

I love to read and have done so since the days I read my older brother’s comic collection. My own book collection is mainly made up of paperbacks of sci-fi/fantasy and mysteries. I do have have some classic literature, cookbooks and craft books too. Unfortunately, over the last 20 yrs, I seem to have gravitated to reading fanfiction and it takes up a lot of my free time. As does cooking. My discretionary fund for buying books has all but disappeared which may have also played a role. I still pick up the odd book at one of the few second hand book stores I visit these days though, especially a book in this series which I read from the public library’s collection. I find Qwill’s matter of fact story telling satisfying and enjoy the way his life is dedicated to his two furry companions. His choice of female companionship isn’t particularly discerning so that may be best.

I’ll have to see if the library has this book and, if they do, put it on hold. Thank you for making me aware of its existence.

    • You are welcome. I’m glad to help. And I totally understand… hard to spend money on books when you can get them free from a library. Or get them thru NetGalley free. Hope you find it! Thanks for sharing and following. Nice to meet you.
