July Update: Monthly Wrap Up

Posted on

It’s been 11 months since I created my “This-Is-My-Truth-Now” WordPress blog and website, but I’ve only been an active blogger since February of 2017, so I’m really @ my 6-month anniversary. Nonetheless, another month is complete and below is my July Wrap-up!

Key Metrics in July 2017

  • Site Metrics – NEW for this MONTH
    • 12,101 – Views (Grand Total of 40,029)
    • 3,604 – Visitors (Grand Total of 10,990)
    • 246 – Followers (Grand Total of 986*)
    • 6,022 – Likes (Grand Total of 20,001)
    • 2,473 – Comments (Grand Total of 6,200)
    • 80  – Posts (average of 2.75 per day, Grand Total of 786)

Note: The # of posts went down a lot because I completed all my older book reviews last month and no longer had to keep interfacing them from Goodreads. When Publicize adds in *Twitter counts, it shows I have over 2K followers. My likes went down by 5%, but since the # of my posts went down significantly, it’s huge increase this month in the ratio of followers to likes. Wow!

*** July 2017 has officially been the blog’s best and most popular month! ***

Books Read in July 2017

In the month of July, I only read 5 books. I planned to read more, but since I started writing my second novel, I haven’t had as much time to read. I also hit my 80% rate on NetGalley again, only to drop down today by a percent because I was awarded two new ARCs. I don’t think this is manageable anymore! LOL

Film / TV Show Reviews

I did nothing… tags and awards took up all my time!

Genre / Author / Series Spotlight

I create an author page, list all the books or series they’ve written, link my reviews and provide a summary and overview of my experiences with the books.

  • I did nothing… tags and awards took up all my time!

Book Bucket List

I continued the book bucket list project where I will keep a running list of 12 books that I must read before I die. Each of the 12 books is assigned a month when I will read it and post a review. Once completed, I’ll cross it off the list and add a new book for the next month:

  • Book Bucket List
    • Reading “The Bear & The Nightingale”
    • Planning to add a book next week and will post on it soon.
      • Suggestions?

What Age Do I Read This Book?

I created a new series to recommend by genre, what are the best books to read by age, covering a range of 12 years for each post.

  • I did nothing… tags and awards took up all my time!

About Me

I’m Jay and I live in NYC. By profession, I work in technology. By passion, I work in writing. Once you hit my site “ThisIsMyTruthNow” at https://thisismytruthnow.com, you can join the fun and see my blog and various site content. You’ll find book reviews, published and in-progress fiction, TV/Film reviews, favorite vacation spots and my own version of the “365 Daily Challenge.” Since March 13, 2017, I’ve posted a characteristic either I currently embody or one I’d like to embody in the future. 365 days of reflection to discover who I am and what I want out of life… see how you compare! Each month, I will post a summary of a trip I’ve taken somewhere in the world. I’ll cover the transportation, hotel, restaurants, activities, who, what, when, where and why… and let you decide for yourself if it’s a trip worth taking. Feel free to like, rate, comment or take the poll for each post. Tell me what you think. Note: All content is my original creation and copyrighted to me, but the graphics and images were linked from other sites and belong to them. Thanks, Patrick. I am very shocked at the numbers, mostly because I am not used to that much focus on me. But it’s such a fun part of my life, I’m happy it’s gone this way. Thanks for being part of it.

Congrats! Such great numbers for such an amazing blog 🙂 !! July was a busy, busy award and tag month for so many of us !! I had so many that I did them instead of book reviews, lol. They are great fun, and I still have 7 to do 🙂 Although now I have way too many reviews to do since I did tags instead hahaha but I read so much too, which is the downside of that.

It’s such a fine balance to get them all done! I focused on tags this week… and I’m caught up! Hope the tag gods stay away for a bit so i can read too! LOL good luck with yours. 🙂

It definitely is and when I said I was only posting 3 days a week, that doesn’t leave a lot of days for tags and book reviews too if I’m reading a gazillion books a month. But this will be my last month reading like that for a while, which makes me sad, but I’m so glad I got the chance to read like a mad woman while I could!
I hope the taggers let you read in August and so you can work on your book! I’m anxious to see how that is coming along as I check in with your blog 🙂
Oh, I’m not even worrying about my awards until after Sept 🙂 I will work on them when I can this month, but not schedule them until then. It might be all I have to post since I doubt I will have had any time to read once I resume everything. Those 180 students will be driving me bonkers the 1st 2 weeks wanting to know what the course expectations are because they can’t read the syllabus. Then they will start dropping out once they freak out hahaha. It happens every year. So the awards are my back up! And all these extra books that I have read this month can be reviews to schedule if I can find breathing space to crank one out between research for my thesis. I’m excited about the research, which I love to do more than the writing parts. I’m not at all stressing out….

Oh, tomorrow’s 365 post might be good for you. I needed it today, so I wrote it today. “Yield” is the word, as an advanced preview.

You’ll get thru it. No reason to stress. Take each day at a time, and if you can, get some WP work done. If you can’t, it’ll still be there the next day, You know your priorities. I’m confident you’ve got this, even tho it will be hard. 🙂 Thanks for always responding! I appreciate it. Reading will happen when it does, btw… sometimes you need fiction, other times a blog. It’ll come together.

I’ll definitely check “Yield” out. I’m sure I will get through it. I always do 🙂 I’m just a worrier by nature and having anxiety disorder only makes that ten-fold. But making my list of priorities does help. Blogging is last on the list when I’m trying to graduate with my 4.0 intact hahaha. I’ll always fit reading in somehow since to me reading is like breathing and my biggest stress relief (that’s why I do so much of it). I enjoy commenting, so you’re welcome, but thank you too 🙂
