Jay Catches a Bug in Florence!

Posted on Updated on

If you are like me and love insects, today’s title might excite you.  But, don’t get too excited!  Jay did not catch a really cool spider or a beautify butterfly…Jay is sick!  While exploring the wonders of Florence, Jay caught a big, bad “Bug”.  This morning, I was happy to hear that he is feeling much better and enjoying Siena.  It sounds like there are some exciting wine tours coming up, in his near future, too.  Let’s send healthy and positive thoughts to our dear author friend, today!

Let’s take a look at what he was up to, while in Florence…

Thank you everyone, especially Sis. I’ve been doing a good job staying offline. So much to catch up on when I return. I went to an Italian doctor… well, he was English but in Italy. I rarely get sick, so it was amusing when I woke up with a fever and sore throat one morning. I got an antibiotic quite quickly and within 24 hours felt much better. The best part… the antibiotic and a bottle of cough syrup with codeine (huge) was only 15 Euro, or about $20. No insurance – medicine is cheap here! 🙂

Now I’ve heard everything. If you want to stay an extra week, we understand you’re having the time of your life. Honestly, don’t blame it on the little bugs – just because you caught one and want to blame your lengthy absence of the wee critter! – Seriously, get well, and set the bug free already.

Jay, I am so sorry to hear that you are ill. At least you are headed to a wine tour. I hear wine cures most things of the buggy sort…even Roda! 😉

Have you ever made wine? It’s pretty easy to get a fairly good result. What type of grapes are you growing?

Not yet! It is in the long term plan. We are growing concord, reliance and himrod. I am hoping to add a few more varieties this year.

I have a dear friend in Alabama who sends me Raspberry Plum jam and her extraordinary Georgia Peach. I had no idea how much I loved jam and I certainly didn’t know I loved peach jam, but this is outstanding stuff.
