Book Review: The Seventh Witch by Shirley Damsgaard

The Seventh Witch (Ophelia & Abby, #7)The Seventh Witch by Shirley Damsgaard

My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

I’ve finished the Ophelia & Abby paranormal cozy mystery series, and book number seven, The Seventh Witch, by Shirley Damsgaard is definitely the best one. Given its focus on North Carolina, how witchcraft came to their family, and their extensive genealogy, it was bound to be a wonderful read. I’ll give it 4.5 stars… so glad to get through them and will miss them, but hopefully the author will write another one some day! 🙂

In this caper, Abby and Ophelia take Tink to visit Great Aunts Mary and Dot. They meet other extended family and learn of a vendetta one branch of the family tree has against them. They might not be related, but there’s some mystery going on in terms of what happened in the past. We find out all the secrets, Ophelia might find a chance at love, and things are looking on the up and up at most points. I wonder if the author thought this would be the last one or there would be another one written that never got published. Maybe that’s the secret one a few folks are thinking could be released in the next year – who knows?

I read this in 2.5 hours non-stop… just kept rolling along and never wanted to put it down. I wanted to unearth the family history. I wanted to smack Aunt Mary. I felt so bad for Abby when we learned her true past. And I was grateful to meet cousin Lydia. Thanks for this heartwarming but unnerving book.

No. Not quite one of those traditions that has travelled to here. 😊 Although my boys know al about it. Lol. But it’s my husband’s birthday tomorrow so we will be busy over the weekend.
