Author Spotlights & Book Alerts

One of my favorite things to do is release spotlights on authors I’ve enjoyed getting to know or promote books I’ve read or want to let others know about. Besides sharing reviews of books I’ve read, sometimes I also offer author interviews, reveal new covers, publish book blitzes, and participate on blog tours. You should definitely take a peek inside each of these posts for the latest and greatest about the books in my life. There are 4 categories below or on the menu on my blog’s homepage, and you can click on each one here to take to you to the past posts.

  • Book Alert: A request from authors to let my blog and social media followers know that there is news about their new book. Often these come with discount offers or opportunities to get a book for free. Usually offers an overview of the book, when it will be released, how to get it, and when it might have ARCs or go on a blog tour.
  • Author Spotlight: A profile on an author I’ve known for a while (including Q&A) that shares news about their current work. Sometimes I ask the author to participate; others they ask me to help promote them.
  • Cover Reveal: A mini-promotion for authors who want to reveal the cover of their new book and surprise their readers and followers with all the marketing they’ve got planned for the launch.
  • Blog Tour: I often participate on blog tours for another author’s new release. If I review the book, there will be a separate review on my site too. This space is for when I am participating in their launch by sharing interviews, character posts, spotlights, or other guest host fun.

I publish these posts for authors I’ve come to know or become friendly with in the last few months to years. I won’t post random alerts and spotlights until I’ve chatted with the individual enough to know they are friendly, easy to work with, open-minded, and accessible by fans and followers. I also read their books in 95% of the cases to show my interest. The only time I won’t read one is if I’m absolutely inundated with reading requests or personal commitments, and the books are not at all within my reading preference ranges (rare). Usually then, I am helping friends by promoting their books because I believe in them as authors and writers.

If you’re interested in one for your books, please keep this in mind, as I don’t share these spotlights and alerts on my blog for strangers. I want any recommendations that come from me to be for people I truly support and engage with on a regular basis.

About Me
For those new to me or my reviews… here’s the scoop: I’m Jay, an author who lives in NYC. My stand-alone novels, Watching Glass Shatter and Father Figure, can be purchased on Amazon as electronic copies or physical copies. My new book series, Braxton Campus Mysteries, will fit those who love cozy mysteries and crime investigations but with a twist. There are five books: Academic CurveballBroken Heart Attack, Flower Power Trip, Mistaken Identity Crisis, and Haunted House Ghost. I read, write, and blog A LOT on this site where you can also find all my social media profiles to get the details on the who/what/when/where and my pictures. Leave a comment and let me know what you think. Thanks for stopping by. Note: All written content is my original creation and copyrighted to me, but the graphics and images were linked from other sites and belong to them. Many thanks to their original creators. Follow my blog with Bloglovin.

      • Thank you. I do have a book coming out next month but it’s a local history so perhaps won’t have a great deal of appeal. Though, having said that, Robbie Cheadle in S Africa bought my last one then came to Dumfries to visit me and see some of the places in the book! I’ve been thinking about doing something to give No More Mulberries a boost – maybe a 99c sale – but have so much on my plate right now it wouldn’t happen until the new book is out.
