AWARDS: Gratitude for Multiple Nominations – Part 4 of 5

Posted on Updated on

Life has just gotten away from me in the last few months… between the 365 Daily Challenge, publishing two novels, reading ~100 books, and earning a living, I haven’t been able to keep up with all the wonderful awards that I’ve been blessed with. I’m so grateful to the blogging community for the love and support you’ve shown me and feel awful that I’ve gotten behind on about ~40 nominations or ping-backs. I’ve been trying to catch up, but it’s not working! So… I’ve decided for the next week, I am going to highlight several bloggers each day who have been generous enough to tag me…

Untitled.png

These bloggers deserve the kudos and a celebrated mention so that more people can find out about them and/or connect with amazing people around the world. Below please find 7 blogs you should be checking out and following. I’ve included the original post they tagged me on as well as a response to a few questions or items from their tag. If I stay on schedule, I’ll be caught up and current on my tags within a week, and then I promise to try to stay on top of them going forward. Thank you to everyone for understanding. If I missed a tag or award, let me know. I will fix that! Much gratitude for sharing your blogs with me and in turn with the rest of the blogosphere!

Unique Blogger Award

  • Books Teacup and Reviews
  • Thank you to Yesha for being one of the first bloggers I connected with last year, giving me ideas for tea to try, and generally being a very friendly, open-minded, and fun blogger to interact with.
  • What in the book makes you blindly request/purchase the book (without even checking ratings/reviews)?
    • Usually just the author… otherwise I still want to know a bit about it!

Tell the Darkness to Get Lost Award

  • Momentum of Jo
  • Thank you to Jo for being such an incredibly kind, generous, and fun blogger to know. Between the inspiration she brings and the laughter she shares, this is one blogger we all need in our lives!
  • There weren’t any questions here, just a list of amazing bloggers who push through the day to help others. If you are looking for someone new to follow, this is a MUST READ post.

Awesome Blogger Award

  • Coffee Loving Bookoholic
  • Thank you to Alex for being an amazing supporter of writers and bloggers. She has truly been someone that makes me smile whenever I see her posts, she tags me on every social media platform, or shares news about her life. She’s just let us know she’s moving, too… and I’m so excited for her!
  • Do you collect anything other than books?
    • Nope! I used to collect a lot when I was younger, but now I prefer less physical things and more digital things. It’s easier to read / view / sample when you are away from home!

Miranda Sings Award

  • Des’ Random Thoughts
  • Thank you to Des for sticking with me from the beginning. We’ve shared lots of comments over the last year and on random posts and topics. It’s always good to have someone international with a really great ability to see the world from so many cultures and places!
  • Random Fact
    • I will be in Italy for 2 weeks very soon. What must I eat and drink???

Black Cat Blue Sea Award

  • The Orangutan Librarian
  • Thank you to ‘R’ (not sure if she shares her name and I don’t want to accidentally reveal it!) for one of the most amazing book blogs ever… so amazing that we’re trying to get together for tea when I’m in London in a few weeks.
  • Which bookish baddie would you least like to meet in an alleyway at night?
    • Joe from “You” by Caroline Kepnes; however, I am not at liberty to say what we’d do… given he’s a serial killer, obsessed and lovesick puppy, and book fanatic, it could be lots of things! LEAST or MOST meet — I can’t decide!

Brotherhood of the World Award

  • Misty’s Book Space
  • Thank you to Misty for being such an amazing friend, blogger, book discussion confidante, reader, reviewer and supporter. Over the last year, we touch base several times a week on book recommendations, how my books are going, what’s going on in her beauty blog, or just general life stuff!
  • What is your least read genre?
    • Science Fiction or Fantasy. I’m trying to read more in it, but I tend to like boundaries in books, and without them, I never know what to expect. I like surprises, but if there are no rules, someone can come back from the dead 5 million times, so it’s never really over. That makes me confused! LOL

Sunshine Blogger Award

  • Jacey K. Dew
  • Thank you to Jacey for connecting with me (fairly recently) and nominating me. She’s an author, too, which is always a fun connection. I look forward to learning more about her this summer when I get back from vacation and look into her books and writing. It’s always good to share someone new with my friends, so welcome to Jacey!
  • What is your favourite film and why?
    • ‘Defending Your Life’ with Meryl Street (and tons of other stars but since I adore her, she’s what makes the film shine for me)… MUST WATCH!

Thank you so much for this wonderful award nomination. I follow all these blogs and enjoy reading their posts.  Please take a minute to visit them because you may just find a new friend or two!

AWARD: Sunshine Blogger #8

Posted on Updated on

Alex @ Coffee Loving Bookaholic nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award today, but I had just completed one earlier today. Rather than duplicate my post, my way to say thank you is to share her answers via Press This!

Please check out her post below. And thank you for the nomination! 🙂
I picked 1 of the 12 questions to answer:

Are you more productive in the morning or in the evening/night?

Definitely night. I am not a morning person. Takes me a bit of time to wake up even after 3 cups of coffee!!!

Many thanks to Claire @ BrizzleLass Books for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Claire is fantastic… she was recently my Recommended Blogger to know for the 365 Daily Challenge… so if you missed that post, click here to check it out and learn more about Claire.

My Questions

  • You can live anywhere in the world, where do you choose?
    • Cotswolds, so I could visit you!

    • Two books:
      • The Bear and the Nightingale
      • If the Creek Don’t Rise

  • What was the last live music show you went to?
    • It’s been a really long time for a concert. Maybe Dolly Parton in June, 2016. I see Broadway shows all the time!

  • If you weren’t a book blogger, what would you blog about?
    • 365 Daily Challenge, but I’d make it even bigger!

  • What is top of your bucket list?
    • I have a Book Bucket List… but I doubt that’s what you meant.
    • I’d love to see either the North or South Pole.

  • What is your autobiography called?

  • Coffee or Tea?
    • Coffee… a few cups per day… or don’t talk to me

    • Both. At the same time. There. I said it.

  • Walk or Cycle?
    • Walk. I never understood cycling. Where do you get when you cycle? I assume you mean a fixed bike. But if you meant a real bicycle, I haven’t done that in 20 years, so still walking. I’m old. Leave me alone.

About Me & the “365 Daily Challenge”

I’m Jay and I live in NYC. By profession, I work in technology. By passion, I work in writing. I’ve always been a reader. And now I’m a daily blogger. I decided to start my own version of the “365 Daily Challenge” where since March 13, 2017, I’ve posted a characteristic either I currently embody or one I’d like to embody in the future. 365 days of reflection to discover who I am and what I want out of life.

The goal: Knowledge. Acceptance. Understanding. Optimization. Happiness. Help. For myself. For others. And if all else fails, humor. When I’m finished in one year, I hope to have more answers about the future and what I will do with the remainder of my life. All aspects to be considered. It’s not just about a career, hobbies, residence, activities, efforts, et al. It’s meant to be a comprehensive study and reflection from an ordinary man. Not a doctor. Not a therapist. Not a friend. Not an encyclopedia full of prior research. Just pure thought, a blogged journal with true honesty.

Join the fun and read a new post each day, or check out my book reviews, TV/Film reviews or favorite vacation spots. And feel free to like, rate, comment or take the poll for each post. Note: All written content is my original creation and copyrighted to me, but the graphics and images were linked from other sites and belong to them. Many thanks to their original creators.

    • I read a few posts from everyone I follow at some point during the week and try to interact as much as I can
    • You can find me and follow me at:
  • What’s something that you’d like to improve on this year?
    • Time Management: I feel like I am all over the place and not able to interact with people as much as I’d like to… so I need to organize my day enough to have time for everything each week.
  • How do you get motivated to blog?
    • I think about the benefits I bring to others and the opportunity to build connections across the world. And then I think about which topics mean the most to me so that I can offer quality, quantity and inspiration.
  • Do you have any favorite books this year?
    • I have read 60 books so far, and the highest rating I gave was a 4.5 out of 5 stars to:

  • Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
    • I would like to be a published author with 5 books available for readers. I’d like to see 1 of the 5 being considered for a TV series or movie. I’d like to be a known quantity in the publishing industry working with other writers, including prominent authors, well-known authors, new/indie authors and those hoping to get published. I always try to give back as much as I’ve learned along the path to achieving my goals.

    • Book Reviews
    • Monthly Update Posts
    • Humorous & Personal Life Stories
    • Inspirational Messages
    • Photos of Life Experiences
  • Do you make money from your blog? If not, do you have plans to try in the future?
    • Nope. I wouldn’t know how to begin… I would want to personally approve any message or ad I earned money for, and that seems rather tedious.

What do you love about yourself?

I’m told that I’m creative and I love that. When I make something and someone says, “Wow, you made that?”, It makes me feel awesome.

What do wish you could change about yourself?

There are actually a few things, but I would choose becoming more self-confident as my first choice.

What book are you reading now?

I’m reading Marcel Malone by Lew Watts and Beauty and the Beast by Vivienne Savage (audible).

You are having a relaxing evening.  What are you doing?

Either hanging with my family, having some tea while wrapped up in a good book, or simply listening to some great music.

AWARD: Sunshine Blogger #5

Many thanks to Roda @ GrowingSelf for nominating me for this award. I’ve been nominated before, but these are new questions, so I must do it all over again. And I’d do anything Roda asked, as she is a wonderful, amazing and brilliant friend who deserved tremendous recognition. So please go visit her site if you haven’t seen it!!!

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring, while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

img_7398

How Does It Work:

  • Thank the person(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog
  •  Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you
  •  Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo on your post and/or on your blog

Questions from Roda to Me:

  • Use one word to describe yourself.
    • Introspective, as I am always trying to figure out how to learn more about myself.
  • What is your favorite season? Why?
    • Autumn. The temperature. The holidays. The colors. The smells. The sounds. The leaves.
  • Are you a city mouse or a country mouse?
    • I live in the city. But I think I’d like to move to the country now.
  • What is your superpower?
    • I can always find something to write about, searching for ways to hopefully inspire and captivate friends with my creative, words and imagination.
  • Why do you write?
    • There is so much going on in my head that I can’t stop the characters, the plots and the ideas from literally popping out. I could be walking across the street and an entire novel will unveil itself in those two minutes. I think I might have a few people trapped up there, and if I don’t let them out, they will torture me. Which means I then in turn torture all of you. So, when you think about it, it’s a good thing I’m writing. Right?
  • What is your favorite book? (Jay and Nel – just one!)
    • I was called out in this question as 1 of the 2 problem children, so I best be on good behavior: Lately… And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie.
  • What brings you JOY?
    • People finding their happiness and inspiration. Learning to love yourself and treating others properly.
  • What is your favorite fruit?
    • Is an avocado fruit? I thought if it had a giant seed or nut, it had to be. If it’s not, then maybe bananas. Love the flavor. Poor Nel is having a heart attack on me right now.
  • Who is your role model? Why?
    • I actually don’t have one single person. I admire traits and actions in the people I consider close friends. They inspire me.
  • If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go?
    • Cotswolds in England… I want to live there. It’s the best place on Earth.
  • What do you love most about YOU?
    • That I’m learning to appreciate my voice and perspective on life, and it actually might be something valuable to other people. I used to think I had no special talents. Now I feel like maybe I’m supposed to put all these communication skills and creativity to good use for others.

Since I’ve been nominated for this a few times before, I’m not going to nominate anyone specifically, as I’ve doing a new feature on my 365 Daily Challenge where each day, I pick a fellow blogger who inspires me with sunshine… and Roda was the first one! so that’s where to find my nominations… and I’ve got the next 11 people picked out already… so watch out, Friends! Jay’s coming to get you…

About Me

AWARD: Sunshine Blogger #4

Posted on Updated on

Many thanks to DarqueDreamerReads for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger award. I’ve been nominated before, but these are new questions that I couldn’t resist. And speaking of not resisting, you should give in to the temptation to check out this Cali Girl’s blogging website. I have been finding great book reviews there since we became e-friends a few months ago. Go now!

This is an award for those blogs which bring sunshine into your life… interpret it any way you feel is appropriate, but follow these guidelines:

Rules

1.) Thank the person who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
2.) Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
3.) Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
4.) List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

Questions Asked of Me:

  • If you had to stick with one book genre for the rest of your life, what would it be?
    • Mystery Fiction. I love to curl up with a good puzzle to unwind.
  • If you had to dye your hair a color, or colors, to represent your soul, what color, or colors, would you choose?
    • Oranges and Browns. My hair is already brown, so I would only have to add in some orange for warmth. Brown because it’s foundational… like me.
  • What charity or awareness foundation is close to your heart?
    • Finding homes for pets
  • If you could travel back in time, which time period would you choose?
    • 1970s… disco… or 1870s… Industrial Age changes. And the authors I love!
  • What is the one book, movie, or television show that has brought sunshine to your life?
    • Harry Potter. I could read them or watch them any day!
  • What is your all time favorite food?
    • Sushi. Could eat it all the time.
  • What is your favorite band or artist?
    • It changes from time to time, but right now Maroon 5.
  • What would the title of your autobiography be?
    • Duality in One
  • What would your character’s name be in a fantasy novel?
    • Intensifier because I am always intense and deep in my thoughts, which would be the one reason people come to when they are unsure about things and need help for the future!
  • What is your favorite flower?
    • Calla Lily, such beautiful colors and shapes
  • What required school reading books did you enjoy?
    • Greek plays like Oedipus Rex and Antigone… great plots and characters

I nominate:

I’m cheating and only picking 5 people as I’ve nominated a bunch of people lately and don’t want to overwhelm them!

My Questions For You:

  • Where is the best place to watch the sunrise or sunset?
  • What color do you wear the most often?
  • How many siblings do you have?
  • Which charity would you leave all your money to in the future?
